Resilient Flooring: SPC, WPC, IronLite and LVT
Resilient flooring is the vinyl-based family of floors: SPC rigid core, Light SPC, ABA SPC, WPC, the IronLite Core sandwich and LVT. Sovern Group supplies them factory-direct in planks, long and wide planks, herringbone, chevron and tile, from 2.0 to 12.0 mm, with wear layers of 0.3, 0.5, 0.55 and 0.7 mm. Any colour is possible, and OEM is available on every product.
What is resilient flooring?
Resilient flooring is the group of floors that give slightly underfoot and are made from vinyl and composite materials rather than wood or fibreboard. Every type shares the same top: a printed decor under a clear wear layer. What differs is the core underneath, and the core sets the thickness, the weight, the sound underfoot and the way the floor is installed.
SPC is a rigid stone-plastic composite core, 3.5 to 6.5 mm, click-lock, usually with an attached IXPE underlay. Light SPC (LSPC) is a lightweight SPC construction at 5.5 to 6.0 mm with a 1.0 mm IXPE underlay. ABA SPC adds a vinyl layer on each side of the rigid core. WPC is a wood-plastic composite core, 5.0 to 9.0 mm, made to order. IronLite Core is a sandwich of SPC, WPC and SPC with a vinyl top layer and bonded IXPE backing, 6.5 to 12.0 mm: the strength of SPC with the lightness of WPC. LVT is luxury vinyl tile, a flexible plank or tile with no rigid core, 2.0 to 5.0 mm, laid glue-down, dry-back or click.
The wear layer sits on top of the printed decor and is quoted in millimetres: 0.3 mm (12 mil), 0.5 mm (20 mil), 0.55 mm (22 mil) and 0.7 mm (28 mil). The surface can be embossed in register, so the texture follows the decor. Other wear layers and thicknesses are made to your specification.
Formats cover the standard 184 x 1220 mm plank, long planks to 1800 mm, wide planks 228 and 230 mm wide, short herringbone planks (610 x 122 mm and 600 x 100 mm), chevron panels with the ends cut at an angle, and tiles. Colour is yours to choose: for resilient flooring we source the decor papers, so any colour can be made.

Resilient flooring: common questions
What is resilient flooring?
Resilient flooring is the family of vinyl-based floors with some give underfoot: SPC, Light SPC, ABA SPC, WPC, IronLite Core and LVT. They share a printed decor under a clear wear layer and differ in the core beneath it.
What is the difference between SPC, WPC and LVT?
SPC has a rigid stone-plastic composite core, WPC a wood-plastic composite core that is lighter and warmer underfoot, and LVT is a flexible plank or tile with no rigid core. IronLite Core combines SPC, WPC and SPC in one sandwich.
Which wear layers do you offer?
0.3 mm (12 mil), 0.5 mm (20 mil), 0.55 mm (22 mil) and 0.7 mm (28 mil). Other wear layers and thicknesses are made to your specification, and we confirm the right one against the space.
Do you make herringbone and chevron?
Yes. Short SPC planks lay in a herringbone pattern with a 1.0 mm IXPE underlay. Chevron panels, with the ends cut at an angle, are made to order: send the plank size, angle, decor and quantity.
Can I have any colour?
Yes. For resilient flooring we source the decor papers, so any colour can be made. The catalogue decors are references, and the format, thickness, wear layer and core are chosen when you order.
How are resilient floors installed?
SPC, Light SPC, ABA SPC, WPC and IronLite Core are click-lock floors. LVT is laid glue-down, dry-back or click, depending on the construction.
